EMPOWERING SMALL FURNITURE MANUFACTURERS IN GAUTENG

Furntech, with the support of eThekwini Municipality will be offering the following NQF Level 2 skills programmes in furniture making to selected individuals:

  • Wood Machining and Cabinet Making
  • Upholstery

This opportunity is directed at persons who are interested in pursuing a career in furniture manufacturing with a view to start their own furniture manufacturing business.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

  • Minimum Grade 10 with Maths or Maths Literacy
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must reside in eThekwini
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be willing to work in the furniture industry

Interested individuals are invited to attend a COMPULSORY briefing session on 24 March 2026 at 09h00 at Furntech KwaMashu (No. 30, 109236 Street, KwaMashu E)


The following documents must be brought to the session:

  • Certified copy of ID
  • CV
  • Proof of Address
  • Certified copy of School Leaving Certificate

RECRUITMENT NOTICE

Are you a small business in the furniture manufacturing sector looking to grow your enterprise, improve your production capacity, and access business development support?

Furntech, in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Economic Development (GDED), invites eligible entrepreneurs and small businesses to apply for the Furniture Manufacturing Incubation Programme running from November 2025 to October 2026.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Access to fully equipped workshops and technology support
  • Business mentorship and coaching by industry experts
  • Skills development in production and costing
  • Market access opportunities and networking

Minimum Requirements for Applicants

Applicants must:

  • Be based in Gauteng Province
  • Operate within the furniture manufacturing or related value chain (e.g. upholstery, cabinetry, joinery, woodcraft, design, or finishing)
  • Be a registered business (CIPC)
  • Demonstrate potential for growth, innovation, and job creation
  • Commit to full participation for the programme duration (November 2025 – October 2026)

FURNITURE MANUFACTURING LEARNERSHIP SKILLS DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY AT FURNTECH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FP&M SETA AND NSF

Are you passionate about working with your hands and building a career in furniture making?

We are offering an exciting Furniture Learnership Opportunity for motivated individuals who are eager to gain skills and experience in the furniture manufacturing industry.

  • Location: Furntech Centre’s listed below
  • Duration: 8 – 12 Months
  • Accredited Qualification: NQF Level 2 in Furniture Manufacturing with specialization in either Wood Machining Cabinet Making, Upholstery or Wood Finishing.
  • Stipend Provided

What You Will Learn:

  • Furniture manufacturing techniques
  • Safe use of woodworking tools and machinery
  • Wood Machining and Cabinet, Upholstery, and Wood Finishing training at NQF L2

Minimum Requirements:

  • South African Citizen
  • Grade 10 or higher
  • Willingness to learn and work in a team
  • Unemployed and not currently studying
